Watch: Kelci-Rose Bowers films Marcos Senesi’s emotional reaction to his World Cup 2026 call-up
Last Updated on 12 June 2026
Bournemouth Women’s defender Kelci-Rose Bowers has captured the rawest reaction yet from her boyfriend Marcos Senesi, and it’s gone straight to the top of football’s feel-good moments this week.
The Argentina defender, who completed a free transfer to Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday, was on holiday with girlfriend Kelci-Rose Bowers when his phone rang.
On the other end was national team boss Lionel Scaloni, calling to deliver the news Senesi had been waiting his whole career to hear: he was being added to Argentina’s 26-man World Cup 2026 squad.
Kelci-Rose, who plays for Bournemouth Women’s team, had her camera rolling for the entire thing.
The footage shows Senesi’s expression shift in real time as the call sinks in, before he’s overcome with emotion and breaks down in tears. Moments later, the pair are seen jumping around their hotel room together, the whole moment turning into pure celebration.
Why Marcos Senesi got the call for World Cup 2026
Senesi’s call-up comes after Marseille defender Leonardo Balerdi was ruled out of the tournament with a muscle injury sustained during Argentina’s training camp in Texas, with the issue expected to keep him sidelined for around three weeks.
FIFA regulations allow squads to replace injured players before their opening fixture provided the injury is officially verified, and Scaloni used Argentina’s warm-up match against Iceland to help finalise his decision before confirming Senesi as Balerdi’s replacement.
For Senesi, the timing could hardly be more dramatic. Just two days earlier, he’d put pen to paper on a move to Tottenham, where he’ll link up with fellow Argentine international Cristian Romero.
Now, instead of starting his pre-season early, he’s heading to the defending champions’ training base in Kansas City to prepare for Argentina’s Group J opener against Algeria.
Marcos Senesi and Kelci-Rose Bowers: The power couple behind the camera
The person capturing it all was Kelci-Rose Bowers, and she’s far more than just a girlfriend with a camera phone. Bowers is a defender who played Bournemouth Women, making her and Senesi one of football’s genuine power couples.
It’s that shared football life that turned Senesi and Bowers into one of the sport’s most-followed off-pitch pairings in the first place, two professionals who understand exactly what’s at stake in moments like this one. That’s also what made this video hit differently.
This wasn’t a partner reacting to football from the outside; it was a fellow footballer who knows precisely what a World Cup call-up means, capturing her other half’s biggest moment in real time.
Bowers, who joined Bournemouth from Portsmouth in 2023/24 on loan before making a move permanent, has built a big following documenting their relationship, and this clip is easily the most emotional moment she’s shared yet.
With the Cherries announcing her departure from the club at the end of 25/26 season, it remains to be seen which club she joins next.
