Manchester City enter a new era this season under Enzo Maresca, and change is in the air both on the pitch and off it. Still, some things stay constant, including the loyal partners cheering from the stands.

From childhood sweethearts to medical professionals, these women have become just as recognisable as Manchester City’s biggest stars.

Here’s a closer look at the people behind the players.

Isabel Haugseng Johansen, girlfriend of Erling Haaland

Isabel Haugseng Johansen and Erling Haaland go back to childhood. They grew up together in the small Norwegian town of Bryne, and they even played on the same youth football team. The pair became an official couple in 2021, and Isabel has since carved out her own path as a social media personality. She used to play for Bryne FK’s women’s team herself.

So she understands the demands of the sport firsthand. The couple welcomed their first child, a son, in December 2024. Since then, Isabel has become one of the most recognisable faces in the stands, supporting Erling’s meteoric rise through Champions League nights and international tournaments alike.

Rebecca Cooke, fiancee of Phil Foden

Rebecca Cooke has known Phil Foden since they were teenagers growing up in Stockport. Consequently, she’s witnessed his entire rise, from academy prospect to one of England’s most gifted midfielders. The couple never rushed into the spotlight, and Rebecca has largely stayed away from public life, choosing instead to focus on raising their three children.

That said, she didn’t hold back when a reality TV star tried to approach Phil earlier this year, quickly stepping in to shut it down. Rumours of an engagement swirled for months, fuelled by a diamond ring Rebecca was spotted wearing after a New Year’s trip to Paris. A wedding now seems only a matter of time.

Sasha Attwood, partner of Jack Grealish

Sasha Attwood met Jack Grealish at school in Solihull, back when they were just sixteen. Since then, she’s built her own career as a model and influencer, all while standing by Jack through some intense scrutiny. She’s spoken candidly about the pressure of dating a high-profile footballer, including the abuse she faced online during past tournaments.

Despite that, the couple has stayed grounded, and they welcomed their first child, a daughter named Mila Rose, in 2024. Sasha continues to balance modelling work with family life, and she remains one of the more visible partners in City’s inner circle.

Laura Iglesias, girlfriend of Rodri

Laura Iglesias keeps an unusually low profile for someone dating a Ballon d’Or winner. She’s a trained medical professional, and she met Rodri while they were both studying at university in Spain. Unlike many WAGs, Laura doesn’t use social media, and she rarely attends matches in person.

Still, Rodri has made her importance clear, publicly thanking her during his Ballon d’Or acceptance speech and calling her the most important person in his life. The couple marked eight years together around that same time, and Laura remains a steady presence behind one of football’s most decorated midfielders, appearing in the World Cup, too.

Lu Mastrovic, girlfriend of Josko Gvardiol

Lu Mastrovic and Josko Gvardiol kept their relationship under wraps for months before going public. She’s from Zagreb, and she balances her studies at veterinary school with a passion for skiing, even working as a ski instructor on the side. The couple were first spotted together at a Christmas Eve party, and their romance became public shortly after.

Lu has since stepped into the spotlight gradually, all while Josko worked his way back from a serious injury. Their relationship remains relatively private, though City fans have grown increasingly curious about the woman by his side.

Alessia Elefante, wife of Gianluigi Donnarumma

Alessia Elefante and Gianluigi Donnarumma first met back in 2016 in Castellammare di Stabia, their shared hometown near Naples. She works as an interior designer, and the couple welcomed a son, Leo, in 2024. Gigi announced their engagement last year with a cheeky social media post reading “long-term contract signed.”

The pair finally tied the knot this July in a lavish ceremony in Fasano, Italy, with guests including Pep Guardiola and Paolo Maldini. Erling Haaland famously stole the show at the reception, leading the entire wedding party in Norway’s viral “Viking Row” celebration from the World Cup.

Izabel Kovacic, wife of Mateo Kovacic

Izabel Kovacic met Mateo Kovacic in their teenage years at church, where he served as an altar boy and she sang in the choir. The couple married in June 2017 at that very same church in Sesvete, Croatia, in front of 600 guests. Since then, Izabel has built her own career as an entrepreneur, co-founding the eco-friendly baby brand Lunilou with her sister.

She’s also earned the nickname “Croatian Shakira” thanks to her curly blonde hair. The couple now have two children together, Ivan and Luna, and Izabel has followed Mateo’s career across Inter Milan, Real Madrid, Chelsea, and now Manchester City.

Marina Reijnders, wife of Tijjani Reijnders

Marina Reijnders met Tijjani Reijnders years before his rise to the top of European football. The couple married in 2022, and they welcomed their first child, a son named Xavien, in early 2024.

Marina works as a maternity nurse and entrepreneur. However, she’s followed Tijjani’s career closely, including his move to Manchester City and the World Cup. They recently announced they’re expecting a second child.

Shireen Doku, wife of Jeremy Doku

Shireen Doku met Jeremy Doku as teenagers in Belgium, and the pair built their relationship quietly over several years. Jeremy proposed during a romantic holiday in Dubai in August 2025, and the couple married just a couple of months later that October.

Shireen works as an aesthetician in the United Kingdom. Their bond made headlines during the World Cup, when Jeremy briefly left Belgium’s training camp to be by her side for the birth of their first child, a son named Praise.

Jailan El Gabbas, wife of Omar Marmoush

Jailan El Gabbas works in marketing and communications and has a background in fashion consulting. She and Omar Marmoush kept their relationship private at first, only hinting at it publicly in April 2025.

The couple got engaged that December, with Omar marking the moment on Instagram by writing that his “11:11 dream” had come true. They married in a private, intimate ceremony in Egypt on June 1, 2026, days before Egypt’s World Cup training camp.
