Ibrahim Mbaye’s summer just turned chaotic. Romain Molina, the outspoken French journalist, dropped fresh claims about the PSG forward’s entourage.

Consequently, a public spat erupted between player and reporter. Molina posted photos linking Mbaye’s parents to Aston Villa and Chelsea, while Mbaye denied everything on Instagram.

Here’s the full story, plus where the Senegalese teenager, one of the stars to watch at the World Cup, could land next.

French journalist, Romain Molina reveals controversy surrounding PSG star Ibrahim Mbaye

Romain Molina first raised alarm bells over Mbaye’s entourage. He described a dangerous setup around the 18-year-old. Specifically, he flagged the parents’ constant presence in negotiations. He also claimed they made exorbitant demands, acting as unofficial agents.

Mbaye hit back immediately. He posted a defiant statement, accusing Molina of lying. However, Molina didn’t back down. Instead, he released photographs as proof. One image showed Mbaye’s parents wearing Aston Villa shirts, numbered 49 and named after their son.

Another showed them in Chelsea jerseys, personalised with their own names. “Royal invitation and gifts,” Molina wrote, tagging the Chelsea photo with “#Facts.” Meanwhile, Molina insisted his intentions were good. He said he wanted to warn against football’s predatory industry.

Nevertheless, the damage was done. Fans and pundits now question who’s really steering Mbaye’s career. Therefore, the saga has become bigger than one player.

Where Mbaye could end up next – Premier League calling?

Villa’s interest was genuine, and talks progressed seriously. Ultimately, though, Jorge Mendes intervened. He offered Alejandro Garnacho instead, so the Villa move collapsed. Chelsea also courted the family, sending gifts and a stadium invitation. Still, nothing concrete followed.

Now, Mbaye’s camp is looking elsewhere. Liverpool and Manchester City have received offers to sign him. Liverpool are searching for wide attacking reinforcements after Mohamed Salah’s exit. City, similarly, are assessing multiple options up front.

Leipzig have also entered discussions, according to reports. Yet Mbaye’s representatives reportedly want a club matching his elite potential. Consequently, expect this saga to drag through the transfer window. PSG, for now, holds the cards.
