The new Chelsea manager, Liam Rosenior, has gotten off to a flier of a start with his new club. He won his first game in charge 5-1 against Charlton Athletic in the FA Cup.

With matches coming thick and fast, Rosenior is set to host talks with some of the banished players in the Chelsea squad. The “bomb squad” features the likes of Axel Disasi, Raheem Sterling and more.

Rosenior is expected to host talks with most of the players at Chelsea with the ongoing January transfer window.

Exiled Raheem Sterling is set to hold crunch talks with new Chelsea boss Liam Rosenior, according to BBC Sport, as uncertainty continues to surround his Stamford Bridge future.

Sterling, now 31, has been frozen out of first-team contention all season after returning from a loan spell last summer. He found himself grouped among Chelsea’s so-called “bomb squad.”

Interest in Sterling has begun to surface. West Ham United have made enquiries over a potential loan deal, while Fulham are also monitoring the situation. However, Sterling is understood to be prioritising a permanent exit rather than another temporary move.

Rosenior confirmed that talks with Sterling and Axel Disasi are imminent. He admitted that the hectic nature of his early days in the job has delayed those conversations. The Chelsea boss was keen to stress his admiration for Sterling.

Chelsea facing “loan sanction”; only permanent moves expected in January

The Blues currently have six players on foreign loans. According to the rules, they cannot send another player out on a loan which limits chances of a temporary exit for Raheem Sterling and Axel Disasi outside of England.

Roma and Lyon expressed interest in Disasi while Napoli are linked with a move for Sterling.

So, either Chelsea would have to cancel a loan of one of their players or sanction a permanent move for Sterling and Disasi.

The 31-year-old spent a major part of the 2024/25 season on loan at Arsenal and has not played an official match this season.
