Fan reaction: Carlo Ancelotti would ‘do anything than play Endrick’: Brazilian fans are losing their minds
Last Updated on 20 June 2026
It happened at Real Madrid. Now it is happening with Brazil at the World Cup. Carlo Ancelotti and Endrick are locked in a feud that nobody asked for, at the worst possible time and the Brazilian fanbase has officially had enough.
The Selecao drew 1-1 with Morocco and their most electric young talent sat untouched on the bench for 90 full minutes.
As a result, the Brazilian fans descended into magnificent, furious and funny chaos. Social media helped change the destiny of one fan, can it change a player’s at the World Cup, too?
The situation: Endrick ignored by Carlo Ancelotti as Brazil toil up front
The backdrop matters. Endrick arrived at this World Cup having scored five and assisted seven in just 16 Ligue 1 appearances for Lyon. Meanwhile, the Italian denied reports that he personally told the 19-year-old to leave the Bernabeu if he wanted World Cup minutes.
Against Morocco, Ancelotti started Igor Thiago up front. Brazil went behind. They equalised through Vinicius Jr. They searched desperately for a winner. Ancelotti introduced Cunha and Henrique from the bench. Endrick watched every single second in his training bib. Brazil drew.
When pressed on the decision afterwards, Ancelotti was characteristically immovable: “I am not going to comment on individual players. I am here to talk about the team.” Asked ahead of the Haiti game whether Endrick would start, he elaborated, sort of.
He called the teenager “extraordinary” and “very patient” and “mature for his age.” He did not confirm a start and with the line-up now out, Endrick remains on the bench. Brazilian fans, at this point, had already moved well beyond patience.
Portuguese X goes into meltdown and the memes are doing serious numbers
The reaction online was instant, enormous and genuinely hilarious. Brazilian supporters, and neutrals who simply enjoy watching chaos unfold, produced some of the tournament’s most viral content.
This one from English X also joined in.
The common thread across the memes, the posts, the ironic graphics: Ancelotti will bring on anyone, try anything, reshape the entire tactical structure of a World Cup match rather than give Endrick 20 minutes.
The feud has a real edge to it because the stakes are genuinely high. Brazil have one point from their opener. Endrick is 19 years old and physically and technically capable of changing a game in minutes. But clearly, Ancelotti thinks otherwise.
And, for what it’s worth, it has made for some amazing posts on X!
