Football Paparazzi Weekly Fantasy Fix: Best picks for FPL Gameweek 20
Welcome back to Football Paparazzi’s Weekly Fantasy Fix and Gameweek 20 marks a turning point in the season, with form starting to settle, fixture runs becoming clearer, and Fantasy managers needing to think one step ahead.
In fact, there is good news for everyone. All your chips, including a second wild card are now available to use.
So, whether you’re consolidating a strong rank or plotting a comeback in the new year, these are the best picks we believe offer the right blend of minutes, momentum, and matchups to deliver in Fantasy Premier League’s Gameweek 20.
Morgan Rogers (£7.4m) – Aston Villa
Aston Villa will be desperate to respond after their defeat against league leaders Arsenal, and a home clash with Nottingham Forest offers the perfect opportunity to bounce back.
Forest arrive at Villa Park having lost three matches in a row, and their defensive issues on the road continue to surface. Villa, meanwhile, remain one of the most aggressive attacking sides at home, and this fixture has goals written all over it.
Rogers has become a central figure in Villa’s attacking setup, consistently getting into advanced positions and contributing in the final third. Against a Forest side low on confidence, it would be a surprise if he didn’t come away with at least one attacking return.
James Tarkowski (£5.6m) – Everton
Everton’s defensive resilience makes Tarkowski one of the standout picks at the back for Gameweek 20.
The Toffees host Brentford at Goodison Park, and the numbers strongly favour the home side. Everton have kept six clean sheets in their last nine Premier League matches, while Brentford continue to struggle away from home.
Adding to that, Brentford face a quick turnaround, having played late on Thursday before travelling to Liverpool on Sunday. It’s never ideal even less when facing a physical Everton side.
Tarkowski offers not just clean-sheet potential but also a genuine threat from set pieces, making him a well-rounded defensive option this week.
Anthony Gordon (£7.4m) – Newcastle United
St James’ Park remains one of the toughest venues in the league, and Newcastle look well placed to exploit a tired Crystal Palace side.
Palace are winless in the Premier League since December 7 and also face a demanding turnaround after playing on Thursday. Newcastle’s intensity at home often overwhelms teams in this situation.
Gordon has been in strong form, combining direct running with end product, and he thrives in fixtures where Newcastle dominate territory. Against a Palace defence low on confidence, he looks well positioned to deliver another return.
Diego Gomez (£4.9m) – Brighton & Hove Albion
For managers searching for a budget enabler, Diego Gomez stands out this week.
Brighton host a Burnley side that continues to look out of depth at Premier League level, and the Seagulls should control large spells of the match. Gomez showed his attacking upside with a goal against Arsenal at the Emirates in Gameweek 18, underlining his ability to contribute beyond just minutes.
At under £5.0m, Gomez offers rare attacking potential for his price point and could easily chip in with a goal or assist against struggling opposition.
