Nottingham Forest travelled to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday for a match nothing less than a relegation six-pointer. And, they came away with a 0-3 win, beating a hapless and poor Spurs team convincingly.

That result officially means that Tottenham remain winless in the Premier League in 2026, going 13 matches without a win. While it still is a long way away from the gold standard of misery, as per PL, set by Derby County with 32 matches, this is still damning.

As a result, we are comparing Tottenham’s current drought with the worst runs by the Premier League’s elite.

Liverpool – 5 games (Dec 2020 – Jan 2021)

Even at their worst under Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool rarely stayed down for long.

This five-game winless stretch came during a bizarre, injury-ravaged title defence, made worse by a four-game goal drought at Anfield, something almost unthinkable for that side.

They recovered just in time, needing some divine intervention as Alisson headed in a winner at The Hawthorns, to finish third.

Arsenal – 7 games (October – December 2019)

Unai Emery’s final few matches as an Arsenal manager set an unwanted record. The Spaniard was let go in the middle of Arsenal’s worst Premier League run in terms of wins.

Freddie Ljungberg became the interim manager, eventually stopping the rot with a win away to West Ham United.

Mikel Arteta would overtake from Ljungberg and lead the Gunners to an eighth-placed finish and the FA Cup trophy.

Chelsea – 7 games (March – May 2023)

Under Graham Potter, Chelsea suffered one of their worst campaigns in the 2022/23 Premier League season, finishing 12th. The season was a nightmare, with Chelsea not winning in five Premier League games on two separate occasions in the same season.

The worst was yet to come, however. Even the incoming Frank Lampard could not save his beloved side from going on a seven-match winless streak, in the same campaign.

While it finally came to an end against Bournemouth in early May, Chelsea lost their final four games of the season, as well. The Blues have also suffered another seven-match winless run, which came in a 42-game season back in 1994/95.

Manchester United – 8 games (April – May 2025)

A modern-era collapse that raised serious questions. Manchester United’s eight-game winless run late in the 2024/25 season marked their worst in Premier League history.

Performances lacked structure and identity, and while the streak eventually ended, the damage to their campaign had already been done.

Ruben Amorim, the-then Manchester United manager, saw the 20-time champions finish 15th in a bleak campaign.

Manchester City – 11 games (Aug – Oct 1995)

As far as start of the campaigns go, there are few worse than Manchester City’s start to the 1995/96 Premier League season under Alan Ball.

They did not win a single game until early November, picking up only two points from 11 matches. City are also the only team on this list to have been relegated.

In the end, it was not enough to save them from relegation with the Citizens going down with an 18th placed finish.

Bonus addition: Everton – 13 games (Dec 2023 – April 2024)

Not technically part of the modern “Big Six,” but impossible to ignore.

Everton remain one of the six clubs never to have been relegated from the Premier League, and their 13-game winless run during the 2023/24 season nearly ended that record.

Sean Dyche finally managed to turn the tide with the Toffees winning five of their final eight Premier League matches to pull off the great escape.

Tottenham Hotspur – 13 games (Jan 2026 – now)

Tottenham Hotspur under Thomas Frank and Igor Tudor have officially matched Everton’s record of 13 games without a win as an ever-present Premier League team.

For what it’s worth, Spurs still have a chance to avoid relegation. Despite their loss to Forest, they remain a point adrift West Ham in 17th with a better goal difference.

Can Igor Tudor stop the rot or will Tottenham get relegated for the first time in the Premier League era?
