Meet Abigail Olivera: The WAG behind Liverpool’s latest recruit, Ronald Araujo

Ronald Araujo arrives at Anfield with more than just his defensive reputation. His wife, Abigail Olivera, has stood beside him throughout his entire football journey.

Ronald Araujo and Abigail Olivera – From Uruguay to Barcelona and now Liverpool

Araujo and Olivera first met back in 2016, as childhood sweethearts from Uruguay. Consequently, their relationship predates his entire rise through Barcelona’s first team. Olivera, an interior designer by profession, has largely stayed out of the spotlight since then.

The couple welcomed their first daughter, Aitana, in November 2021. A second daughter, Adara, followed soon afterward, cementing their growing family unit. Then, in January 2025, Araujo proposed on the very same day he signed a new Barcelona contract through 2031.

Finally, in June 2025, the pair married in an intimate ceremony back home in Montevideo. Guests reportedly stored phones in lockers, given the strict privacy measures surrounding the event. Only one Barcelona teammate, Ansu Fati, made the trip to attend in person.

Now, as Araujo completes his move to Liverpool, Olivera and their daughters are expected to relocate too. After all, as per reports, the Reds have an option to make the loan permanent. Therefore, this move could be a fresh chapter for the entire family, not just the player himself.

Beyond football, Araujo’s own past choices have generated controversy among Liverpool fans. During the 2025/26 season, he travelled to Israel amidst a poor run of form for a ‘spiritual’ trip. That drew sharp criticism from pro-Palestinian voices at the time, given the ongoing genocide.
