Football has always been played in the shadow of personal lives, and as Arsenal stand on the brink of their most momentous season in a generation.

They are chasing a Premier League title for the first time since 2004 and a maiden Champions League crown. Off the pitch, however, two of Mikel Arteta’s forwards carry very different emotional weights into the run-in.

Leandro Trossard faces uncertainty off the pitch as his marriage shows signs of strain, while Viktor Gyokeres has rediscovered both love and form in equal measure. Both storylines could shape everything for Arsenal.

Leandro Trossard’s marriage storm casts shadow over crucial West Ham clash

There is rarely a good time for personal turbulence, but the timing could hardly be more delicate for Leandro Trossard. The Belgian is ready to feature for Arsenal in today’s blockbuster Premier League encounter at the London Stadium against West Ham.

It’s a match the Gunners simply cannot afford to drop if their title dream is to survive, yet sources close to the situation suggest all is not well at home. His wife, Laura Hilven, 33, has quietly erased years of shared memories from her Instagram.

She scrubbed wedding photos, holiday snaps, date-night pictures, and a beloved shot of the couple in Arsenal shirts on the Emirates pitch. Posts that once charted 13 years together, have all vanished. In fact, Laura has not been pictured wearing her ring since December.

For a player who has been one of Arsenal’s most dependable contributors, the distraction is an unwelcome one. Whether Trossard can compartmentalise and deliver when Arsenal need him most remains to be seen. Today’s match will offer an early answer.

Viktor Gyokeres’ love life reboot fuels stunning Arsenal resurgence

If Trossard’s story is one of uncertainty, Viktor Gyokeres’ is its mirror image. If anything, the contrast could not be more striking. The Swedish striker endured a difficult start to life at the Emirates following his £64 million summer move.

As he drew criticism for failing to hit the ground running in North London, his personal life fell apart, quietly. Part of the backdrop was a breakup with Portuguese actress Ines Aguiar. According to reports, it was a split reportedly initiated by Gyokeres, as per the Daily Mail.

This is because he wanted to arrive in England without distractions, fully committed to his career. The gamble initially appeared to backfire on the pitch. But since quietly rekindling his romance with Aguiar, Gyokeres has been a transformed figure.

With Aguiar now reportedly looking at properties in London and Gyokeres fully embedded in Arteta’s attacking plans, the Swede heads into the business end of the season with both his personal life and his football firing on all cylinders.

For Arsenal’s double ambitions, the Premier League, then PSG in Budapest, a striker playing with that kind of confidence and contentment could prove the difference.
