Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez finally tie the knot this weekend. After a decade together, the couple chose Madeira, Ronaldo’s birthplace, for their ceremony.

Consequently, expectations for lavish celebrations couldn’t be higher, as you could expect from a couple as high-profile as Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina.

Here’s everything currently known about the venue Cristiano and Georgina have chosen and the plans surrounding it.

Inside The Savoy Palace, Cristiano Ronaldo’s chosen venue

Ronaldo grew up in Funchal, so returning home for his wedding carries deep sentimental value. That’s exactly why he picked the five-star Savoy Palace hotel for the celebrations.

The hotel sits in the heart of Funchal, boasting 352 rooms with sweeping Atlantic views. Terraced gardens, rooftop dining and multiple restaurants all feature across the property. Crucially, six separate swimming pools give guests plenty of choice throughout the weekend.

A member of The Leading Hotels of the World, Savoy Palace also houses “The Reserve.” This exclusive hotel-within-a-hotel occupies the upper floors, offering round-the-clock service and panoramic bay views.

Meanwhile, the Jacaranda Lounge & Club provides a private rooftop infinity pool, solarium and personal butler access. They met back in 2016 and announced their engagement last August, following eight years together. Now, nearly ten years later, they finally make things official.

Everything we know about Cristiano and Georgina’s big day

Reports suggest the ceremony takes place at Funchal Cathedral, a historic landmark accommodating roughly 800 guests. Vows are expected around 3pm, following months of secrecy from both families.

Afterward, celebrations move to the five-star Savoy Palace hotel, just minutes away. This opulent venue features six swimming pools, multiple restaurants and round-the-clock butler service. Furthermore, a striking 33-foot metal chandelier greets guests at the grand entrance.

The couple will reportedly stay in “The Reserve,” an exclusive 40-room retreat within the hotel. Prices there reportedly start around £1,100 per night. Meanwhile, the sprawling Grand Ballroom can host up to 1,000 people, suggesting a truly massive reception.

Guests might also enjoy the rooftop Galaxia lounge, complete with its own infinity pool and private butler service. Reports indicate two entire floors will close to regular guests across the wedding weekend. Given the scale involved, this promises to become one of football’s most extravagant celebrations ever staged.
