Before the private jets, the designer wardrobes, and the global spotlight, there were quieter lives. Lives built around school runs, late shifts, university lectures, and small-town routines.

Long before football turned their worlds upside down, these women had identities of their own careers, ambitions, and paths that had nothing to do with fame. Some left those lives behind. Others held onto them.

And in many cases, those early years say far more about who these WAGs are than anything that came after.

Rebekah Vardy

Before becoming one of England’s most talked-about WAGs, Jamie Vardy’s wife, Rebekah’s life was far from glamorous. She worked various jobs, including bar work and event promotions, navigating a difficult and often unstable upbringing.

There were no luxury boxes or VIP sections back then, just long hours and real-world pressures.

Her story isn’t one of sudden transformation, but of contrast. From those early struggles to becoming a major presence in football headlines, Vardy’s journey reflects a side of WAG culture that rarely gets attention: survival before spotlight.

Coleen Rooney

Long before she became a central figure in English football culture, Coleen Rooney was simply a girl from Liverpool, raised in a city where football wasn’t entertainment, it was identity.

Her family were, in fact, lifelong supporters of Liverpool, deeply embedded in the culture of the club. Matchdays, conversations, and life revolved around football. That changed suddenly with her growing infatuation for Everton and Manchester United legend, Wayne Rooney.

Meeting Wayne Rooney as a teenager didn’t introduce her to football, she was already part of it but allegiances changed, as per BBC Sport.

Magi Salah

Before Mohamed Salah became one of the biggest names in world football, Magi Salah was focused on something entirely different: science.

Growing up in the same village, the two were childhood sweethearts, but while Salah pursued football, Magi excelled academically, eventually earning a degree in biotechnology.

Even after global fame arrived, she never fully stepped into that world. Instead, she remained largely private, continuing her work and supporting charitable efforts back home, a reminder that not every life is rewritten by football.

Lisa Muller

Before becoming part of one of Germany’s most recognizable football couples, Lisa Muller was building a life rooted in discipline and structure.

A semi-professional dressage rider, she was deeply involved in equestrian sport, while also interning in the Bavarian State Parliament, a path that hinted at both sporting ambition and political awareness.

Even after marrying Thomas Muller, she never fully abandoned that identity, despite influencing his future. Running her own horse-breeding business and maintaining her independence, Lisa represents a different kind of WAG story.

Georgina Rodriguez

Before the spotlight found her, Georgina Rodriguez was working as a shop assistant in a Gucci store in Madrid, a normal job in a city full of people chasing stability.

Her life was structured around shifts, rent, and routine. No cameras. No headlines. Just work.

Meeting Cristiano Ronaldo changed everything overnight, but what makes her story compelling is what came before it, a grounded, working life that still shapes how she presents herself today.
