There’s never a dull day at Old Trafford. Just months after Sir Jim Ratcliffe took control of football operations, the rumour mill has kicked back into overdrive and this time, the whispers are louder than ever.

The Glazers have long stood firm as Manchester United owners. However, fresh claims suggest the winds may be shifting. With new investors being linked and high-level discussions allegedly underway, the ownership saga surrounding one of football’s biggest clubs has been thrown wide open once again.

Turki Al-Sheikh sparks takeover rumors as investors circle Manchester United

Turki Al-Sheikh set social media ablaze when he claimed Manchester United were in “advanced negotiations” with a new investor, according to Goal.com.

Though not personally involved, the Saudi sports chief declared the developments were “the best news I heard today”. This fuelled growing speculation that the Glazers may finally be ready to engage with serious offers.

Among those watching closely is Finnish entrepreneur Thomas Zilliacus. The 69-year-old confirmed he’s been drawing up plans for a potential new bid.

He previously tried to team up with other parties, including Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim, to avoid a bidding war that only lined the Glazers’ pockets.

Conor McGregor’s past interest adds mystery to takeover speculation

As speculation swirls around potential new investors at Old Trafford, one familiar celebrity name has unexpectedly re-entered the conversation: Conor McGregor.

The former UFC double champion first teased the idea of buying Manchester United back in 2021.

The tongue-in-cheek message immediately set social media alight, sparking debate among fans and pundits alike.

McGregor’s original comments were delivered with a dose of humour. However, he later clarified that he was “certainly interested in acquiring a sports team at some stage,” and named both Manchester United and Celtic as clubs he admired.

That remark ensured his name would linger whenever takeover talk returned.

This week’s fresh wave of speculation, triggered by Turki Al-Sheikh’s claim that United are in “advanced negotiations” with a new investor, has once again dragged McGregor into the spotlight.

For now, the identity of the new investors remains a mystery. But the buzz surrounding McGregor’s past remarks shows just how hungry supporters are for a change at the top.
