Arne Slot’s comments speak volumes about Alisson’s Liverpool future as Juventus circle
Last Updated on 24 April 2026
Alisson Becker has been one of Liverpool’s most important figures since his arrival from Roma in 2018: a Champions League winner, a two-time Premier League champion, and an undisputed Anfield legend.
But as the summer window edges closer, the signs are pointing towards a parting of ways.
With Juventus circling and Arne Slot stopping well short of any public commitment to the Brazilian’s future, the writing may be on the wall for one of the Liverpool’s greatest ever goalkeepers.
Arne Slot’s words signal Alisson could be on his way out: Juventus ready to pounce
When asked whether Liverpool could afford to see Alisson leave, Slot’s response was telling. Rather than offering reassurance, Slot leaned on the club’s decision-making process. As per the Echo, Slot said, “experience is an argument to keep him but there are other arguments.”
The careful non-commitment speaks volumes, this is a manager who knows a departure is being weighed up seriously. Transfer expert Matteo Moretto has reported that Alisson has already reached a verbal agreement with Juventus.
According to reports in Italy, Liverpool want around £12 million for their Brazilian goalkeeper. For the fans, it’s tough seeing their successful core getting disassembled in front of their very eyes. And, given the scrutiny around Slot, there is not much support for such decisions.
Manchester City’s James Trafford eyed as a possible Alisson successor
With Mamardashvili already on the books, you’d assume the succession plan is sorted. But Liverpool are weighing up other options in the Premier League, too.
According to Goal, Liverpool have declared interest in Manchester City’s James Trafford, with a deal appearing to hinge on Alisson’s departure and the club promising Trafford the number one spot ahead of Mamardashvili.
Trafford is keen to leave after spending a season as backup, though Liverpool face competition from Chelsea, Aston Villa, Tottenham, and Newcastle. Whether Trafford is the answer long-term remains to be seen. However, Liverpool are preparing for life without their no.1.
