Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the departure of head coach Igor Tudor, with the club announcing that the decision was “mutually agreed.”

Spurs’ miserable run of form in 2026, culminating in a humiliating 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest, stretched their Premier League winless streak to 13 matches. It remains the worst run recorded by a so-called “Big Six” club in the competition’s history.

In reality, the timing leaves little doubt about the context. With confidence drained, and performances deteriorating, the club had no option but to let Tudor go.

The Tudor era at Tottenham never really got going. Having let the Croatian go after a ‘mutual’ decision, Spurs will hope they can find someone to keep them in the Premier League.

The North London club remains 1 point adrift of relegation with only seven games left. Despite beating Atletico Madrid in the second leg in the Champions League, Tudor could not muster enough to remain in the job.

During his time with Spurs, the club only managed to win one point in the Premier League. That came against Liverpool at Anfield, with Richarlison scoring late on and giving Tudor a lifeline.

However, it all came crashing down against Nottingham Forest at home.

What’s next for Tottenham?

With the Tudor experiment reaching a swift and bruising conclusion, the hierarchy at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium faces a race against time that borders on the existential. The immediate priority is clear: survival.

The board is unlikely to gamble on a long-term project mid-crisis. Speculation is already mounting around a short-term “survival specialist” capable of galvanizing a demoralized squad.

One option was Sean Dyche but the former Forest and Burnley manager has put himself out of contention, according to talkSPORT. Meanwhile, the likes of Roberto de Zerbi and Adi Hutter have also been linked as longer-term options.
