Nottingham Forest sack Sean Dyche; No club has ever had more permanent managers
Last Updated on 12 February 2026
Nottingham Forest have dismissed Sean Dyche, with the club now searching for their fourth permanent manager of the season in an unprecedented campaign of upheaval at the City Ground.
The decision follows Wednesday’s goalless draw at home to bottom-placed Wolves, a result that leaves Forest just three points above the relegation zone with 12 games remaining.
When Nottingham Forest announce a new manager, they will break a Premier League record.
Nottingham Forest set to hire a FOURTH permanent manager in a single Premier League campaign
34 total attempts with eight of them on target and 62% possession was not enough for Nottingham Forest at home against Wolves. The Garibaldis tried over and over again to score but when the final whistle blew, Wolves had escaped the City Ground with a point.
Unfortunately for Sean Dyche, that was the end of the road at Forest, having joined the club only 114 days ago. He became the third manager to depart the club, this season, after Nuno Espirito Santo and Ange Postecoglou.
As a result of this unprecedented blur of sackings, the next manager Forest hire will be their fourth of the current campaign. That would be a Premier League record with no other club ever hiring more than three permanent managers in a single season.

Was it the right decision to sack Sean Dyche?
Evangelos Marinakis, the owner of Nottingham Forest, has been a tough employer. Nuno Espirito Santo was let go at the beginning of the campaign after the two had a fall out. Then, Postecoglou was sacked after failing to win any of his eight games in charge.
114 days later, Dyche has departed the club, despite picking up nine points in his last six Premier League games. It’s not great reading, but Forest did hold league-leaders to a draw at home, while beating the in-form Brentford away from home.

It’s the last three results, in particular, that have forced Marinakis’ hand. Forest let slip a lead against Crystal Palace after a red card to Neco Williams at the City Ground before losing to Leeds United 3-1.
The Wolves result became the final nail, but it still feels like a decision made in haste. Dyche has the credentials of ‘war-time’ management in the Premier League and there are a few managers better at keeping clubs in the league than 54-year-old.
