Manchester United legend drops BRUTAL verdict on Ruben Amorim
Last Updated on 29 September 2025
Wayne Rooney branded his former side “broken” and said the soul has disappeared from Old Trafford, claiming he now goes to matches “expecting them to lose.”
Fans are stunned as Wayne Rooney didn’t stop there.
He questioned the players’ desire and the manager’s authority. Manchester United’s top scorer also warned that supporters are simply waiting for the club to crumble.
Wayne Rooney has ‘no faith’ in Ruben Amorim
Wayne Rooney delivered his scatching criticism on the latest episode of The Wayne Rooney Show podcast, speaking candidly about the decline of his former club.
The former England striker insisted he has “no faith” in Ruben Amorim’s ability to restore their fortunes.
Rooney argued that United no longer resemble the side he played for during his 13-year spell at Old Trafford. He pointed to a lack of fight and leadership on the pitch.
The five-time Premier League champ said that while supporters continue to back the team, many are simply waiting for the club to collapse further.
He claimed that Amorim’s record speaks for itself, which it does. Manchester United have failed to win back-to-back games during his tenure.
They also slumped to 14th in the Premier League table after their latest defeat to Brentford.
Xavi emerges as new candidate for Manchester United job
According to the reliable Fabrizio Romano, former Barcelona boss Xavi Hernandez would be open to taking charge at Old Trafford if United part ways with Ruben Amorim.

The Spaniard guided Barca to the 2023 La Liga title. Then, he stepped down a year later and is said to be monitoring the situation at Old Trafford closely.
Romano believes Xavi would jump at the chance to replace Amorim, even without European football on offer.
This comes after fresh pressure on Amorim and with speculation mounting around his future. With only 33 points from 34 Premier League games in charge, the Portuguese manager needs a miracle to turn it around at Old Trafford.
