Is Graham Potter on the Brink? West Ham eye SHOCK replacement
Last Updated on 23 September 2025
Graham Potter’s West Ham reign looks to be hanging by a thread after yet another defeat plunged the club deeper into crisis.
Graham Potter has managed just six wins in 25 games, and patience in the boardroom, and on the terraces, is wearing thin.
Now, with speculation mounting, West Ham could be preparing to make a dramatic change in the dugout with a shock return on the cards.
Slaven Bilic could return to the dug out as Graham Potter looks destined for the sack
West Ham majority shareholder David Sullivan is actively weighing up his options after Saturday’s loss to Crystal Palace, with reports suggesting Potter is close to the sack.
The East London club has come under a lot of criticism from fans following a lot of uncertainty as of late.
The Guardian revealed that talks had taken place with Nuno Espirito Santo, but concerns over his financial demands may see Sullivan turn instead to Slaven Bilic.

The Croatian, who previously managed West Ham between 2015 and 2017, is open to returning. Some insiders see him as a galvanising figure capable of stabilising the club in the short term.
Bilic has already started weighing up potential backroom staff, with former West Ham stalwarts Mark Noble and James Collins among the names mentioned.
Is Slaven Bilic the man to save West Ham from the drop?
With four losses from five Premier League games and a second round exit in the EFL Cup, West Ham look a shadow of their formerselves.
It’s hard to believe that this is the same team that won UEFA’s Conference League in 2023. West Ham currently sit 19th in the Premier League, below an Aston Villa side that have one goal in the league this season.
All three promoted sides, as well as, underperforming Brentford are ahead of Graham Potter’s men.
As a result, a move for Slaven Bilic definitely does make sense.
| Manager | Matches | Wins | Draws | Losses |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Graham Potter | 25 | 6 | 5 | 14 |
| Slaven Bilić | 111 | 42 | 30 | 39 |
For what it’s worth, Bilic registered wins against both Manchester clubs, Liverpool and Arsenal, in his first stint as a West Ham manager back in 2015.
He led West Ham to their best finish in the Premier League, in terms of points, and the fewest number of losses.
When Bilic was sacked in 2017, he departed the club with a record of 1.33 points per Premier League game, the best among all previous West Ham managers.
Can he work his magic again or are West Ham destined for the drop?
