Moises Caicedo’s long-range stunner helps Chelsea win a thriller against Liverpool
Last Updated on 4 October 2025
Moises Caicedo scored a thunderbolt in the first half to give Chelsea a well-deserved lead.
A close-range Cody Gakpo equalizer got Liverpool back in the game after good work from Alexander Isak.
But it was Estevao who scored in stoppage time to hand Liverpool back-to-back defeats in the Premier League for the first time since April 2023.
Moises Caicedo blasted top-bins from range against Liverpool
Chelsea were the better side in the first half with Moises Caicedo breaking the deadlock in the 14th minute.
It was a superb finish into the top corner, but the touch to set himself up was even better. Caicedo got away from Alexis Mac Allister and found himself in acres of space before smashing an unstoppable hit to give Chelsea the lead.
Liverpool’s Giorgi Mamardashvili was in goal, making his Premier League debut, but he had no chance of stopping that rocket.
For Caicedo, it was his third goal of the 2025/26 Premier League campaign, already the most he’s ever scored in a single season, as per Transfermarkt.
Enzo Maresca’s men end three-match winless streak in the Premier League
Coming into the game against Liverpool, Chelsea were winless in the league since August.
They had drawn away to Brentford in the dying embers of the game, before losing to Manchester United at Old Trafford.
More recently, Brighton got a late win at Stamford Bridge with two stoppage time goals in a 3-1 win over Chelsea.
And after Cody Gakpo’s 63rd minute equalizer, it looked like Chelsea were in for another disappointment.

But, their young star from Brazil, Estevao had different ideas, getting away from Robertson in the 96th minute to score his first goal for Chelsea.
That is some way to announce yourself on the biggest stage, scoring your first goal against the champions in stoppage time. The excitement saw Enzo Maresca sent off for celebrating too wildly for a second yellow but he would not care much.
That win moves Chelsea up to 6th in the table and the Blues will go into the international break high on confidence.
