Federico Valverde has long been a cornerstone of Real Madrid’s starting XI, but recent events have sparked questions about his role under Xabi Alonso.

Federico Valverde was left on the bench for Real Madrid’s Champions League clash against Kairat Almaty, and his body language suggested frustration.

As a result, Valverde’s future at the club has been thrown into doubt with many clubs emerging as a potential destination.

Tottenham Hotspur looking to bring Federico Valverde to the Premier League

According to the Sports Mole, Federico Valverde is linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur. It signals an ambitious approach from Spurs but also offers Valverde a chance to do what he’s good at.

The Uruguayan could play a central role under Thomas Frank, a manager, keen to strengthen his midfield. With his future at Madrid uncertain, a transfer to the Premier League appears increasingly plausible.

Valverde has flirted with the idea of moving to the Premier League. The 27-year-old was strongly linked with a move to Liverpool, a few seasons ago.

As far as Tottenham are concerned, this would be a landmark coup. If they can land a player of Valverde’s quality, it would turn them into title challengers.

Question is, can they convince Valverde to join them? The Lilywhites were rejected by Eberechi Eze in the summer and failed to get a deal for Morgan Gibbs-White over the line.

A deal for Valverde will be just as difficult to do, if not more.

Federico Valverde unwilling to play secondary role under Xabi Alonso

Valverde’s current situation at Madrid is far from what was expected. Since joining the club in 2018, the Uruguayan has been a symbol of commitment and consistency. However, that has changed under new manager, Xabi Alonso.

Before the Kairat Almaty clash, Valverde was asked about the possibility of playing right-back due to injuries in defense. His response was blunt: “I wasn’t born to play as a full-back.”

While he later added that he was always willing to help, the remark did not go unnoticed.

Hours later, Valverde was left on the bench. His body language spoke volumes: he entered the pitch last, skipped the pre-match rondo, and walked alone during the second-half warm-up.

Teammate Fran Garcia offered words of support, as reported by BeIN Sports. “Knowing Fede, I’m sure it bothers him. He always wants to be on the front line.”
