A new Premier League star was born at Stamford Bridge on Saturday and even Erling Haaland couldn’t resist taking notice.

Chelsea ran out 2-1 winners against Liverpool in the Premier League with a stunning long-range goal from Moises Caicedo opening the scoring.

Cody Gakpo equalized for the visitors but it was the 18-year-old, Estevao, who won it in stoppage time for Chelsea.

Erling Haaland labels Estevao ‘wonderkid’ after late winner

Watching from afar, Manchester City superstar Erling Haaland appeared just as impressed.

The Norwegian striker shared a Snapchat photo of himself watching the goal, captioning it simply: “Wonderkid.”

It was a small gesture but one that spoke volumes. Coming from one of world football’s most prolific forwards, it felt like a public seal of approval for a teenager many already believe could become the next Brazilian superstar.

Signed by Chelsea in the summer of 2024, Chelsea beat competition from the likes of PSG, Manchester City and Real Madrid. And Erling Haaland’s one-word reaction suggests the rest of Europe is starting to realise it too.

Estevao’s bright start to the Premier League is not surprising

Despite becoming the youngest Brazilian to score a winner in the Premier League, Estevao’s exciting trajectory does not come as a surprise.

The 18-year-old was highly rated when in Brazil and has managed to bring his craft to the Premier League, impressing every chance he gets.

To come up with 18 dribbles in just 180 minutes is a phenomenal statistic. And now, Estevao has already started adding end product to his game, as well.

Earlier in Chelsea’s 5-1 win over West Ham, Estevao became the youngest player to assist a Chelsea goal in Premier League history. Meanwhile, his winner against Liverpool was his first in a professional match for Chelsea.

If Estevao continues on his current trajectory, the £51m that Chelsea paid for the teenager will soon look like a bargain.
