Appearing as a guest on CBS Sports Golazo, David Beckham gave his predictions for the upcoming Champions League campaign.
David Beckham backed his former club, Real Madrid, to go all the way in the 2025/26 edition of Europe’s premier competition.
He also has another former team, Paris Saint-Germain, doing well, after winning the Champions League last season.
And, Beckham had Kylian Mbappe finishing as the top scorer in both the La Liga and the Champions League.
But the real shock came when the six-time Premier League champ talked about Newcastle United.
David Beckham expects Newcastle United to ‘surprise a few’ in the 2025/26 Champions League
David Beckham gave his predictions on what he believes will be the ‘surprise’ of the upcoming Champions League campaign.
Micah Richards backed Kylian Mbappe to win the Ballon d’Or as his surprise. While, Jamie Carragher expects three Premier League teams out of the tournament before the knock-outs.
David Beckham, on the other hand, believes that a lot of people have already ‘written Newcastle off’. He expects the Tyneside club to come up with some shock results and ‘surprise a few’.
Beckham added, “They are a good team and they’ve got some good players and they’re very together, as a team, as a club, and as fans.”

Newcastle will get a great chance to prove Beckham right on Thursday when they host FC Barcelona at St. James Park.
Massive boost from Newcastle United as Lamine Yamal unlikely to feature in Champions League clash
After losing Alexander Isak to Liverpool in a controversial move and many other injuries hampering their start to the season, there’s light at the end of the tunnel for Newcastle.
Eddie Howe will be thrilled with the major boost Newcastle have received ahead of their game against FC Barcelona.
The La Liga champions are expected to be without young star, Lamine Yamal. The youngster was instrumental in helping them win the league, last season, according to ESPN.
The 18-year-old is already regarded as one of the best players in the world and he’ll be a big miss for Hansi Flick’s side.
Newcastle, meanwhile, will be without two of their new signings, Jacob Ramsay and Yoane Wissa.
But with £78m signing, Nick Woltemade, scoring on his debut to hand Newcastle their first win of the season, the Toon Army will feel confident of causing a major upset on Thursday.
