Germany arrive at the 2026 World Cup having rebuilt quietly and brilliantly under Julian Nagelsmann, led by the dazzling Florian Wirtz and a squad that blends young talent with seasoned experience.

While the football world debates whether Wirtz and Musiala can fire Germany to a fifth World Cup win, the women behind the squad carry their own compelling stories. From a former volleyball internationals to an American model and singer, the German squad has it all.

Here are the five most talked-about WAGs heading to North America with Die Mannschaft.

Aaliyah: The woman who followed Florian Wirtz to Liverpool

She has never confirmed her surname publicly, and her Instagram remains stubbornly private. Yet Aaliyah is one of the most talked-about women in football simply by being exactly who she is.

She and Wirtz began dating in 2022. The same year he suffered a devastating ACL injury, and she was by his side throughout every difficult month of his recovery. When Wirtz completed his blockbuster £116 million move to Liverpool in summer 2025, Aaliyah made the move with him.

She posted a video set to Lykke Li’s “I Follow Rivers,” letting the lyrics do all the talking. Liverpool fans immediately adored her for it. With over 115,000 followers built on fashion content alone, Aaliyah arrives at this World Cup as one of the most intriguing WAG stories.

Sophia Emilia: Kai Havertz’s childhood sweetheart and dignified new mother

Sophia Weber and Kai Havertz grew up together in Aachen, fell in love, and have been building a life ever since. They married on 18 July 2024 in a fairy-tale ceremony at Bensberg Castle, and welcomed their first child, a son, in March 2025.

However, the months in between were not without darkness. In January 2025, after Havertz missed a decisive FA Cup penalty. That led to anonymous users sending vile threats to Sophia on Instagram, including messages directed at her unborn child.

Her response was calm, measured: “For anyone to think it’s okay to write something like this is so shocking to me. I hope you are ashamed of yourself.” The fanbase rallied around her immediately. A model and influencer with over 500,000 followers, Sophia arrives as a new mother and an important member of Arsenal WAGs and the German family.

Lina Meyer: The captain’s wife who chose family over glory

Joshua Kimmich captains Germany into this World Cup with the quiet authority of someone who has seen everything. Beside him stands Lina Meyer, a woman who has given up just as much for the life they have built together.

A former German national volleyball player, Lina met Kimmich while he was still at RB Leipzig in 2013. She moved to Munich in 2017 to join him retiring from volleyball after their first child was born in 2019.

They married in a private ceremony in 2022 and have three children. Kimmich and Lina have deliberately chosen to keep the kids away from media spotlight. There is no flashier WAG story in the Germany camp, and there does not need to be.

Luisa Tah: Jonathan Tah’s wife who he married by the lake

Jonathan Tah is not the most glamorous name in the Germany squad, but his love story is one of the most picturesque. In June 2023, the Bayern Munich defender married Luisa in a ceremony held on the shores of Lake Como in Italy.

They shared photographs on Instagram with the caption: “For my whole life with my whole heart.” The couple kept the details of the wedding almost entirely private. Which is on brad as Tah is known for being a reserved figure.

Now at Bayern Munich, Luisa will join Tah in North America and support him by the sidelines as Germany try their best to win another World Cup.

Candice Brook: Leroy Sane’s star-powered American partner

If any WAG at this World Cup brings genuine celebrity credentials entirely independent of football, it is Candice Brook. The American model and singer has dated a roster of US stars including Chris Brown, French Montana and NBA player Andre Drummond.

But she has been with Leroy Sane for several years, and together they have a daughter. Candice’s profile in Germany rose sharply when reports emerged that it was partly her desire to return to London that shaped Sane’s transfer thinking during his final season in Munich.

She was spotted in the stands at Germany’s friendly against Ghana in Stuttgart in March 2026. Sane ultimately moved to Galatasaray, not London but Candice’s influence on one of most important sagas of recent years is a story that followed them all the way to this tournament.
