Mohamed Salah is known for doing his talking on the pitch. But this time, the Liverpool talisman stepped off the pitch and onto social media, and he didn’t hold back.

The Egyptian forward fired off a rare public response on X. It left fans debating his words after a viral post from aggregator account Anfield Edition caused a stir.

It all started when Anfield Edition compared former Liverpool’s attackers and their latest recruits Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak.

The account claimed that Wirtz and Isak would be “upgrades” on departing Premier League champions, Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez.

What might have been intended as casual transfer chatter soon blew up. And Salah, never one to enter online debates lightly, decided this was one step too far.

In just one line, the reigning Player of the Year managed to both defend his teammates and call out what he saw as needless disrespect toward the club’s current squad.

The post quickly went viral, sparking discussion not only about Diaz and Nunez, but also about Salah’s decision to directly confront fan-driven media.

It was a crucial message delivered by the Egyptian king to his own fanbase. One built on the pillar of respect for the achievements of those who have left the club.

It’s easy to get carried away with new signings but Salah’s tweet was an example of fans overlooking and taking club success for granted.

Florian Wirtz has had a tough Premier League start

While it’s tempting to dream about flashy new arrivals hitting the ground running, the reality is that any signing stepping into Anfield faces a steep climb.

The Premier League is unforgiving, as Florian Wirtz has already found out, given his tough start to life in England.

On the other hand, players like Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez weathered that storm, battling through inconsistent spells, and proving themselves on big stages.

Alexander Isak is more familiar with the league but even for him the difference in expectations is going to be gargantuan. Playing for Liverpool is a whole different level of pressure than playing for Newcastle.

Salah’s message wasn’t just about defending former teammates. It was also a reminder that succeeding at Liverpool is about more than just stats and potential, it’s about surviving the grind, earning trust, and producing when the stakes are highest.
