Viktor Gyokeres has gotten off to a mixed start to his Arsenal career, scoring 3 goals in 6 Premier League games but none in his last five in all competitions.

Since his £63.5million arrival, Viktor Gyokeres has become a focal point in Mikel Arteta’s attack.

And while some Arsenal fans might be worrying about his form, his teammates are far from concerned. In particular, Gabriel Martinelli, who expects the Swede to score quite a few goals during his time at the Emirates.

Gabriel Martinelli backs Martin Odegaard to unlock Viktor Gyokeres

Martinelli opened the scoring for Arsenal against Olympiacos in the Champions League, after Gyokeres was denied by the post.

Having played with Gyokeres in training and on the pitch, Martinelli is convinced that Martin Odegaard can provide the Swede with the service he needs to explode in front of goal.

As per the Standard, the 24-year-old winger said, “We are really happy with him, we trust him. We know his qualities and he’s one of the top strikers in the world right now. We trust him and we are trying to give him the confidence to score and to do his best.”

Gyokeres scored for fun in Portugal. Now, at Arsenal, he’s got the creative talent of Odegaard, Bukayo Saka, and Martin Zubimendi to level up.

Martinelli is really bullish on Gyokeres’ talent. “It’s really good to play with Martin there because he’s always trying to find you, when we make the movement. And for Victor as well, his qualities as well, as he likes to go in behind and attack the opposition’s box.”

The Brazilian gave his prediction for Arsenal’s number 14, as well, saying, “I think him playing with Martin as well is going to be good for him. We are going to try to give him the ball as much as possible to make him score, I don’t know, 30 or 40 goals a season.”

Arsenal’s upcoming run of fixtures is the perfect platform for Viktor Gyokeres

After a tough run of fixtures to start the 2025/26 campaign, Arsenal’s fixtures are looking relatively easier, at least on paper.

In fact, they face the lowest fixture difficulty in their next five games in the Premier League. The first of those games is West Ham United at the Emirates, which will be Nuno Espirito Santo’s second game in charge.

No other side has conceded as many goals as the Hammers in the league with 14. Mikel Arteta and the Arsenal hierarchy will hope that Gyokeres can make the most of this run of fixtures.

Arsenal have difficulty creating opportunities from open play, but this could be the perfect way of answering their critics.

Two promoted sides in Burnley and Sunderland make up Arsenal’s next five, as well. Kai Havertz being injured gives Gyokeres a clear shot at cementing his place as the first choice striker. Question is, can he make the most of this opportunity?
