Chelsea star’s off-field troubles deepen after fresh driving conviction
Last Updated on 10 December 2025
Already facing the fight of his career to save his footballing future, Chelsea’s superstar has now found himself back in court for yet another off-field lapse in judgement.
A big-money signing at Chelsea has come under another round of controversy after another off-field run-in with the authorities.
What began as a routine traffic stop has spiralled into a fresh legal setback, one that only adds to an already disastrous year.
Mykhailo Mudryk handed another driving ban after BMW tint offence
The player at the centre of the latest controversy is Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk. The £97 million star has been banned from driving, once again, according to The Sun. This time, he was caught behind the wheel of his £140,000 BMW with illegal window tints.
Police stopped the Ukrainian international after spotting the car’s excessively dark front windows and Ukrainian number plate. Tests carried out on the vehicle later confirmed that the front windows failed to let in the legal amount of light.
Further checks revealed that Mudryk was already disqualified from driving due to previous speeding offences. He was also found to be driving without insurance at the time of the stop on the A4 in West London on October 2.
His lawyer told the court the winger had been forced to drive himself because his chauffeur was unavailable. He added that Mudryk “was not thinking clearly” having endured a “difficult year”.
The 24-year-old was handed a one-year driving ban. Along with a 12-month community order with 60 hours of unpaid work, and ordered to pay £199 in court costs.
Mykhailo Mudryk’s Chelsea career on verge of collapse following doping controversy
The driving conviction comes at the worst possible time for Mudryk. He is already suspended by the FA after testing positive for a banned substance, a case that could result in a four-year football ban if the charge is upheld.

Chelsea have remained publicly cautious in their response to the doping investigation. But the accumulation of off-field dramas is becoming increasingly damaging to the Mudryk’s reputation.
Once signed for a fee approaching £97 million, Mudryk now finds himself fighting on two fronts. One to clear his name in footballing terms. And another to rebuild trust after repeated lapses in responsibility away from the pitch.
