The race for Antoine Semenyo is unlike anything the Premier League has ever seen before. All the top six clubs are big admirers of the Ghanaian and now a fresh twist has come to the fray.

Earlier this week, it was confirmed that Tottenham Hotspur had been rejected by Antoine Semenyo, despite a strong offer. Then, on Tuesday, it was confirmed that Chelsea had joined the race for the 25-year-old.

Now, a fresh twist has revealed another top six club falling out of the race. And, we still have more than a week to go before the January window opens!

Chelsea “drop” interest in Antoine Semenyo

Chelsea’s interest in Semenyo was seen as a major threat by the other clubs in the race. A lot of that was down to the Ghanaian admitting he was a boyhood Chelsea fan, having been born in London.

However, in a fresh turn of events, The Athletic has revealed that Chelsea are not pushing ahead with plans to sign Semenyo in January.

This means that the Manchester clubs are, once again, the favorites for the in-form winger. Liverpool remain in the race, as well, having made contact with Bournemouth back in November.

Chelsea are said to be “happy” with their attacking depth for the remainder of the campaign. They will pursue an attacking signing in the summer of 2026, as was their original plan.

Manchester City ‘pushing a lot’ for Semenyo

In the last 12 hours, Manchester City have moved ahead of all the other clubs in the race to sign Bournemouth winger, Antoine Semenyo.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Hugo Viana, Manchester City director wants the final answer from Semenyo, as soon as possible.

Manchester United still remain in conversations with Liverpool monitoring the situation, too. At this point in time, it’s still anyone’s guess where Semenyo will end up.
