A £60million-rated Premier League star came under a late night confrontation in London out in public.

The Premier League player in question was reportedly threatened with a gun by another well-known and respected figure in the world of football.

While the perpetrator has been arrested and the player remains ‘shaken up’, it goes to show the dark side of football.

31-year-old agent ARRESTED for brandishing firearm on Premier League player

The shocking incident occurred shortly after 11pm on September 6. The player, in his 20s, was walking with a friend through central London.

As per legal reasons, the identity of the player has not been revealed.

According to Daily Mail, a football agent allegedly approaced the player. Then, he produced a firearm and made violent threats, leaving the footballer “shaken” but physically unharmed.

Police arrested the suspect two days later at his £2million home in Hertfordshire. The agent was bailed on September 9 with strict conditions preventing any contact with the player.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed the investigation remains ongoing, with additional allegations of blackmail and intimidation being probed.

Sources close to the player say the ordeal has sent “shockwaves through the business side of football,” raising concerns about player safety. It also highlights the darker dealings within football’s agent network.

Leading agent Jonathan Barnett, once advisor to Gareth Bale and Jack Grealish, is currently facing a U.S. lawsuit for alleged human-trafficking, torture and assault.

While his agency completely deny the accusations, an anonymous woman alleges Barnett “owned her” as a “slave” for six years.

Barnett is famous for brokering Gareth Bale’s massive money move from Tottenham Hotspur to Real Madrid back in 2013. He retired in 2024 and is currently under investigation.
