MAJOR blow for Arne Slot as superstar ruled out for crucial Champions League fixture
Last Updated on 22 October 2025
Liverpool have lost four games on the trot with their bitter rivals, Manchester United, winning at Anfield after nine years.
As Liverpool look to get back to winning ways, the players ran into some unexpected transit trouble ahead of their away trip
And, to make matters worse, Arne Slot is faced with a tough decision as an ever-reliable star has been ruled out with an injury.
Ryan Gravenberch set to miss Liverpool’s away trip to Frankfurt in the Champions League
Arne Slot will have to rely on his midfield depth as Ryan Gravenberch has been ruled out against Eintracht Frankfurt.
The Dutch midfielder suffered a knock in the second half against Manchester United. Slot expects him to be in contention for the Premier League game against Brentford on Sunday.
However, Gravenberch did not travel with the squad to Frankfurt for the Champions League game. As a result, Slot will need to shake things up in midfield.
Alexis Mac Allister’s form has been poor and the Argentine has come under a lot of criticism. Meanwhile, the most in-form midfielder, Dominik Szoboszlai, has been deputising at right-back.
So, Slot might need to rely on his midfield depth to find that elusive win and bring an end to this terrible run.
He could call upon the services of Bundesliga veteran, Wataru Endo, or Curtis Jones, who looked good against United.
Technical problems delayed Liverpool’s flight to Frankfurt by FOUR hours
Liverpool’s preparations for the Eintracht Frankfurt game took a turn for the worst when the squad arrived at John Lennon airport.
Scheduled to depart at 16:00 GMT on Tuesday, Liverpool’s flight eventually took off at 19:51 GMT, according to the Guardian.
Due to the lateness of their departure, the club had to cancel their pre-match press conference.
Meanwhile, Arne Slot insisted the flight delay is not an excuse for the Frankfurt game.
“No, it will not impact the buildup to tomorrow’s game. We have trained over here at the AXA; normally we would have gone to Frankfurt a few hours earlier, now we are a few hours later. That can never be an excuse for the game tomorrow.”
