Once a global icon on the pitch, Dani Alves has resurfaced in an unexpected setting. One far removed from the stadiums where he built his legacy.
After years defined by both triumph and turmoil, the former Barcelona star has re-emerged in a role that few could have predicted.
Dani Alves has made the full transformation, going from the football pitch to the pulpit.
Ex-Barcelona superstar, Dani Alves, becomes evangelical preacher in Girona
After more than a year behind bars, Dani Alves has re-emerged as a preacher, as per Tribuna.com.
His first major appearance at the Elim Girona Church left onlookers astonished as he shared his story of faith and forgiveness.
“You have to take the things of God seriously and have faith. I am proof of that. I made a pact with God,” Alves declared.
Since late 2024, the former Barcelona and Brazil star has used his social media to spread evangelical messages, posting Bible verses and hymns while calling himself a “Disciple of Jesus Christ.”

Before that, he was involved in a major assault case, one which saw his conviction overturned due to the lack of reliability of the accuser’s testimony and inconsistencies.
Dani Alves remains one of football’s most decorated players ever
Before swapping religion for football and his assault case, Dani Alves built a name for himself in the world of football.
In many ways, the Brazilian redefined the role of a fullback and he has the success to show for it, too.
Dani Alves won 43 club trophies for club and country throughout his glittering career. Only Lionel Messi has more. The Argentine eclipsed his former teammate after winning the World Cup with Argentina.
As far as success on the flanks goes, few fullbacks can do what the Brazilian was capable of. Today, the fact that almost every team in the world wants bombing fullbacks goes to show the impact Alves had.
