Manchester City were held to a late draw by Arsenal in a thrilling finish at the Emirates Stadium.

Erling Haaland gave Pep Guardiola’s side the lead within the opening ten minutes after Tijjani Reijnders put him through.

Arsenal kept piling the pressure on Manchester City but it wasn’t until stoppage time that Gabriel Martinelli dinked Gianluigi Donnarumma to equalize.

Isabella Rousso, Gabriel Martinelli’s fiancee, predicted the Brazilian’s equaliser

Before the game, Martinelli told her fiancee that he wasn’t expected to start.

Not disheartened by her partner’s exclusion, Isabello Rousso backed Martinelli to score off the bench.

In fact, her prediction was so accurate that it captured the exact detail of how he would score.

Rousso posted her prediction as a screenshot on Instagram and it translates, “You will play against tired legs in the second half and score a goal, you will see.”

That’s exactly how it unfolded.

City’s defense pushed up in stoppage time but couldn’t recover against Martinelli’s brilliant run. The Brazilian latched on to Eberechi Eze’s pass, dinking Donnarumma, who was caught in no man’s land.

With the signings of Noni Madueke, Eberechi Eze and Viktor Gyokeres, Gabriel Martinelli’s starting spot for Arsenal has been thrown into doubt.

He also hasn’t built on the potential he showed early in his Arsenal career, coming under a lot of criticism. Especially, from Theo Walcott, who called his performance ‘frustrating‘ against Liverpool.

However, Martinelli’s made Walcott go back on his words, only a few weeks later.

His superb goal in a clinical display against Manchester City had the former Arsenal winger praising his determination, speaking to BBC Sport.

“You can either sit there and sulk about things or you can actually have a look at yourself and think: ‘How am I going to affect the situation I am in?'” He added, “He is definitely going about it in the right way because he is a hard worker and a grafter.”

That’s two in two for Martinelli, after he scored in the Champions League against Athletic Bilbao to break the deadlock. The Brazilian will be hoping to force his way into Mikel Arteta’s plans after gathering a bit of momentum this season.
