England talisman set to miss upcoming match against Wales due to injury
Last Updated on 8 October 2025
England face rivals Wales in an international friendly ahead of their World Cup qualification fixture against Latvia on the 14th of October.
However, the Three Lions will be without their superstar striker who has been in fine form for club and country this season.
Bayern Munich’s number 9, Harry Kane, is nursing a knock to his ankle and is expected to miss the friendly against Wales.
Harry Kane a ‘major doubt’ for England ahead of Wales clash
The England captain is currently following an individual recovery plan indoors. This comes after he picked up a knock during Bayern’s 3-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt last weekend.
Kane limped off late on but initially played down the injury.
However, the 32-year-old hasn’t trained with the main squad at St. George’s Park, according to Sky Sports. This raises doubts over his involvement at Wembley and a late fitness call is expected on the involvement of both players.
If Kane is ruled out, Tuchel will likely turn to one of Ollie Watkins, Marcus Rashford, or Jarrod Bowen to lead the line. It’s unlikely to see Tuchel risking his talisman for a friendly, especially with a World Cup qualifier on the horizon.
Harry Kane makes record-breaking start to the 2025/26 campaign
Even at 32, Harry Kane continues to deliver at the highest level.

His goal against Frankfurt was his 18th in just 10 games this season for Bayern Munich. This staggering scoring rate has kept the Bavarian giants at the top end of the Bundesliga table.
The former Tottenham striker also has 4 goals in five 2026 World Cup qualifiers. He will be keen to return for the Latvia game to add to his tally.
Earlier this month, Kane beat Lionel Messi’s record by becoming the fastest player to score 100 goals for a club. He reached the milestone in only 104 games for Bayern Munich.
With questions over his future at Bayern, Kane has reiterated his desire to stay at the Allianz Arena, where he won the first club trophy of his career.
