Burglaries are becoming more and more common for footballer’s with Raheem Sterling being at the end of one earlier in November.

Now, new information has come to light from Italy where a former Premier League champion had his £2 million villa on Lake Garda broken into.

Jamie Vardy becomes the latest superstar to be at the end of a burglary

Jamie Vardy and his wife Rebekah have become the latest high-profile victims of a luxury home break-in. Thieves raided their Italian villa and escaped with valuables reportedly worth around £80,000.

The incident took place over the weekend at the Vardy family’s villa overlooking Lake Garda. Jamie and his family have been living there since joining Serie A side Cremonese in the summer.

According to L’Unione Sarda, a group of three burglars entered the property while Vardy was playing against Serie A leaders, Roma.

The thieves are believed to have accessed the home through an open window. In fact, they spent several minutes inside before fleeing with high-value items. All that included jewellery, cash, and multiple luxury watches, among them a Patek Philippe.

At the time of the burglary, a babysitter was in the house at the time but, fortunately, was unharmed.

Jamie Vardy’s bittersweet switch to Italian football

The former Premier League champ completed a move to the Serie A after his contract expired with Leicester City.

Vardy scored 200 goals in 500 appearances for the Foxes, famously winning the Premier League in 2016. Having joined Cremonese, Vardy has taken some time to adjust to new surroundings but still has two goals in the league.

This break-in is bound to make the 38-year-old re-think his decision, but such incidents have increased all over Europe in recent years.

Fortunately for Vardy his family has been supportive of his decision to move to Cremona.

“They are everything, I wouldn’t be able to do what I do if I didn’t have the support of all them. we know its going to be different and difficult to start with. It’s a challenge we are already for and it’s really exciting.”
