Tottenham summer transfers 2025: Thomas Frank’s £180m rebuild with Mohammed Kudus, Xavi Simons and Randal Kolo Muani
Last Updated on 5 September 2025
Thomas Frank arrived in the summer to replace the outgoing Ange Postecoglou and build on the Europa League triumph.
Backed with more than £180m in transfer funds, Spurs signed eight first-team players in one of their biggest rebuilds in years.

Tottenham’s attacking reinforcements: Mohammed Kudus, Xavi Simons and Mathys Tel
Frank wasted no time stamping his authority on the squad. Tottenham first secured Mohammed Kudus from West Ham for £55m, beating rivals to one of the Premier League’s most dynamic attackers.
The big breakthrough came when Spurs finally landed Xavi Simons for £51m after failed attempts to lure Morgan Gibbs-White and Eberechi Eze. Simons is seen as the creative spark Frank’s midfield lacked.
Meanwhile, Mathys Tel made his move permanent after impressing on loan from Bayern Munich in 2025, adding youthful depth to the attack.
Kudus has already looked the part, assisting twice in the Premier League since his switch. Meanwhile Tel guarantees some much needed depth and few players excite more than the Simons transfer.

Tottenham’s defensive recruitment
The biggest challenge at Tottenham for Thomas Frank was fixing the leaks in their defense. Spurs conceded the fourth most xG in the Premier League, with only the three relegated sides conceding more.

As a result, Spurs confirmed the signings of Kevin Danso and Kota Takai. Danso impressed on loan last season from Lens and were thrilled to sign him on a permanent deal. They also officially welcomed the highly rated Luka Vuskovic, before loaning him out to Hamburger SV.
Given Frank’s style of play, it was hardly a surprise that Spurs were also in the market for a defensive midfielder. Shrewd scouting helped them secure the loan of Joao Palhinha from Bayern Munich.
The Portuguese midfielder had fallen out of favor with Bayern, jumping at the chance for a return to England. His crucial contributions already helped secure a massive win for Spurs over Manchester City.
Deadline day coup: Randal Kolo Muani joins Spurs
Frank’s biggest concern was depth in the no.9 position. Despite Richarlison’s spectacular start to the season, Spurs were dealt a major blow with an injury to Dominic Solanke.
They were in the market for a back-up number nine and didn’t get one until the final few hours of the window.
Once again, clever negotiations convinced PSG to part with Randal Kolo Muani, who joined Spurs on loan. It’s one of the most underrated signings of the summer transfer window.
Frank will be more than happy with Richarlison’s fiery form but Kolo Muani gives Spurs the extra depth and talent needed to contend in the Champions League this season.
