Callum Hudson-Odoi has found himself in legal hot water away from the pitch and it has nothing to do with his football.

The Nottingham Forest winger, one of the Premier League’s more stylish operators, has been ordered to pay over £1,100 following a court conviction linked to his eye-catching McLaren supercar.

The 25-year-old faced prosecution and was convicted at a fast-track hearing in April but what exactly led to his day in court?

How Callum Hudson-Odoi’s £400k McLaren landed him in court

Callum Hudson-Odoi has a taste for the finer things, and few things say that louder than his McLaren 765LT. A jaw-dropping machine with an asking price north of £400,000 with a twin-turbocharged V8 producing over 750bhp.

The 765LT is one of McLaren’s most coveted road-legal track weapons, wrapped in lightweight carbon fibre and capable of hitting 60mph in under three seconds. It turns heads wherever it goes which may be precisely what drew attention on an October morning in Manchester.

The McLaren was spotted on Southmill Street at 8.50am on October 29 last year. And when the DVLA ran the plates, there was a problem. Hudson-Odoi had become the registered keeper of the vehicle in February 2024, but the annual road tax had lapsed at the end of January 2025.

Meaning, it was still untaxed nine months on when the car was clocked by authorities. The DVLA offered Hudson-Odoi the chance to settle the matter out of court. However, the footballer did not respond to the offer. That decision proved costly, as per The Mirror.

He was subsequently prosecuted for keeping a vehicle without a valid vehicle licence. And, having not entered a plea, Hudson-Odoi was convicted at York Magistrates’ Court. He was ordered to pay a £660 fine, £410 in back tax, and £85 in costs, a total of £1,155.

Callum Hudson-Odoi’s consistent campaign with Nottingham Forest

Off-field headlines aside, Hudson-Odoi has been one of Forest’s more consistent creative threats this season. The 25-year-old winger has racked up 7 goal involvements in 30 appearances, a solid return for a player in a side scrapping for Premier League survival.

Forest have steadily pulled themselves clear of the relegation zone in recent weeks. But the bigger story at the City Ground is their Europa League adventure. They currently hold a slender 1-0 lead heading into the second leg of the semi-final against Aston Villa.

Hudson-Odoi, however, will play no further part in the run-in. The club confirmed he will miss the remainder of the season after undergoing surgery for a leg injury. It’s a frustrating end to what had been a promising season.
