Pressure continues to mount on Reds manager, Arne Slot, after Brentford defeated Liverpool to make it four losses on the trot.

There were no surprises from a gameplay perspective for Liverpool as they conceded from a long throw-in with Dango Ouattara opening the scoring for the Brentford.

Their misery was further compounded by a simple through ball from Mikkel Damsgaard, which split the defense open and Kevin Schade made it 2-0 on the brink of half-time.

Just before the half-time whistle went, though, Milos Kerkez got one back for Liverpool but it did not change much for the Reds in the second half.

Virgil van Dijk gave away a penalty which was converted by Igor Thiago on the hour mark. Mohamed Salah finally scored for Liverpool late on but it proved to be a consolation goal and nothing else.

Andy Robertson slams Liverpool for ‘playing into’ Brentford’s hand

Liverpool’s vice-captain, Andy Robertson, delivered a brutally honest admission, as per the Echo, explaining how the Reds failed to play to their gameplan.

“They would have had a clear gameplan and I think they played theirs perfectly. We didn’t play ours at all.”

The Scottish international believes Liverpool’s intensity and fight was well off, compared to Brentford.

“We didn’t do enough off the ball.” He added, “You have to fight for the control. No team in the Premier League, nobody’s going to go, ‘On you go, you take the ball, we’ll try and defend.’ Nobody does that.”

It looked like Robertson was also not happy with Arne Slot’s gameplan hinting at how it was very predictable how the Bees would set up.

“But you can’t come to Brentford away and just expect to play them off the park because they are always going to be ready to fight. They’re always going to be ready to put bodies in the box when it comes to set-pieces, put the balls in behind, pick up second balls.”

He pointed out, “You know what you’re going to come to, here. They’re always the same and they’re so good at it.”

Arne Slot has to get Liverpool out of this rut…and FAST

The Dutch manager bemoaned that his side has not been able to come up with an answer to the way teams set up against them.

“Teams have a certain playing style against us, which is a very good strategy to play and we haven’t found an answer yet, and that every time going 1-0 down doesn’t really help as well.”

However, an honest reaction from Arne Slot in the postmatch is not going to cut it with patience running thin among the fans. He needs to find a way to fix Liverpool’s troubles as IndyKaila broke the news about Liverpool’s hierarchy getting ‘concerned’ about results.

This comes after Jurgen Klopp admitted he has not ruled out a return to Liverpool. And with some tough fixtures on the horizon, Arne Slot might be running out of time to save his job at Anfield.
