Real Madrid tell Liverpool they will NOT sign their 26-year-old star
Last Updated on 28 November 2025
Spanish giants, Real Madrid have tracked a number of Liverpool stars over the course of the last few years, eventually convincing Trent Alexander-Arnold to join them in 2025.
Recently, Real Madrid had their eye on another first-team starter at Anfield but a new development has come to light, early on Friday morning.
However, that might not be the end of the story as far as Liverpool are concerned.
Real Madrid tell Liverpool they have ‘no interest’ in Ibrahima Konate
After a somewhat drawn-out saga that had been going on, behind the scenes, for more than a year, Real Madrid have pulled the plug on a move for Ibrahima Konate, as per David Ornstein.
The 26-year-old had put contract renewal talks with Liverpool on hold, given Real Madrid’s interest. But, this new development means the Reds have a chance of convincing the French international to stay at Anfield beyond the summer.
The situation, however, is quite complex. Liverpool’s recent performances have been terrible, with the Merseyside club losing 9 of their last 12 games. To make matters worse, Konate has been quite poor, making a number of mistakes and looking shaky at the back.

According to IndyKaila, the Liverpool hierarchy don’t plan on breaking the bank on Konate. They will make one more offer but won’t go over the odds to convince the Frenchman to stay. And, after his recent form, there is even lesser appetite to do so.
Ibrahima Konate could ‘still leave’ Liverpool as contract standoff continues
Even David Ornstein reported along the same lines, saying that despite Real Madrid ending their interest, Konate’s future at Liverpool is not secure.
After all, the centerback has talked about his love for his birth city, Paris, and Paris Saint-Germain. The French club could also make a move for the 26-year-old.
He also posted on his social media talking about how he wants to ‘fight back’ after a tough start to the season.
Either way, if the media signalling from Anfield is to be believed, they will not be bullied into giving in to Konate’s demands. Unfortunately for him, Konate does not have a lot of bargaining chips up his sleeve, either, after the latest from Santiago Bernabeu and his recent form.
